UPS and the Teamsters continue to make meaningful progress on the National Master Agreement (NMA). This week, both parties exchanged proposals on non-economic items at the main table, and five subcommittees met to advance discussions on key topics: safety & health, feeder (tractor-trailer) operations, package operations, air operations and inside operations. We are pleased with the early progress we’ve made reaching tentative agreements on several articles. Teams will continue work on the final two open supplements next week, and talks on the National Master Agreement will resume the following week.

International Roadcheck Currently in Progress

The annual International Roadcheck, conducted by the Commercial Vehicle Safety Alliance (CVSA), is occurring through tomorrow (May 18). This is a high-visibility, high-volume, 72-hour inspection and enforcement event where CVSA-certified inspectors in Canada, Mexico, and the U.S. conduct inspections of commercial motor vehicles and drivers at weigh/inspection stations, designated inspection areas, and along roadways. This year, inspectors are focusing on anti-lock braking systems (ABS) and cargo securement to highlight the importance of those aspects of vehicle safety. Although ABS violations are not out-of-service violations, ABS play a critical role in reducing the risk of collisions.
